HIve Exhibit – Invisible Dog Gallery, Brooklyn, NY – March 8-9th 2014
Currently I am working with potatoes in plaster, over time. As the two materials dehydrate in undetermined ways cracks emerge. I fill the cracks with more plaster, sometimes pigmented, sometimes with pigment around the edge of the crack, as the potato frees itself from the earlier pour. Over many weeks and months. Then I sand both potato and plaster to reveal the lines that record the ‘reverse-growth’ rings. These stages are not always as you would suspect, sometimes tense and sometimes harmonious.
